Impact On Business (2:30 mins) Copy

The research on EQ has proven consistently that the highest performers were not necessarily those with the highest ratings on the hard skills but those who had a balance of high ratings on the soft areas as much as the hard areas. In other words, one could be a high performer in areas of strategy, vision, execution and driving results but if they were weak, they hardly belonged to the highest 10 or 20% of highest performers.

However, if they had high ratings on EQ and quite high ratings on their hard skills, they consistently belonged in the highest band of performers. This does testify to the fact that it is not a case of EQ vs IQ but the importance of combining EQ with the high competencies.
