Look at the 3 pictures below.
How do you interpret what you see and what is the challenge in the picture? You may also want to establish how a similar situation happens in the corporate world.
Now attempt to reframe each of them. Remember, a reframe is “What is the positive outcome from the negative incident which you can accept and appreciate?”
We see a picture of small fish in a big ocean of large fish. One can be eaten alive easily. This is a metaphor for a sutation in the corporate world where one can be totally overwhelmd in a new situation where you might be junior, inexperienced and fresh either out of school or a newbie learning the ropes. It feels scary and intimidating. But with the right attitude, there is much to bbe learnt not only about the work but survival skills, navigating the levels of control and leadership and how you survive. Pass through this and a whole new world opens to you.
The picture is about a Black Sheep. Often, it is viewed as a disadvantage, standing out from the rest with unique but unequal disadvantage. You might be chided, ostracised, frowned upon. But what if you turned these differences into your advantage. Whether it is about color, size, looks, your loud character, quirky habits. It is easier to stand out from the crowd and be noticed because of your differences. There are many examples in history.
This picture depicts a man left behind because either his rope snapped or the last man standing was left out and had no more string to accommodate him. In the corporate world, we are sometimes left out, left desperate, left to fend for ourselves with no help at all. It is in our lowest points that we sometimes find our true grit, perseverance, latent talents to emerge stronger and able. And once we discover that, we understand our threshold to handle so many more obstacles that will come our way.
